Making CMB temperature and polarization maps with Madam

چکیده

MADAM is a CMB map-making code, designed to make temperature and polarization maps of time-ordered data of total power experiments like Planck. The algorithm is based on the destriping technique, but it also makes use of known noise properties in the form of a noise prior. The method in its early form was presented in an earlier work by Keihänen et al. (2005). In this paper we present an update of the method, extended to non-averaged data, and include polarization. In this method the baseline length is a freely adjustable parameter, and destriping can be performed at a different map resolution than that of the final maps. We show results obtained with simulated data. This study is related to Planck LFI activities.

Making maps from Planck LFI 30 GHz data with asymmetric beams and cooler noise

The Planck satellite will observe the full sky at nine frequencies from 30 to 857 GHz. Temperature and polarization frequency maps made from these observations are prime deliverables of the Planck mission. The goal of this paper is to examine the effects of four realistic instrument systematics in the 30 GHz frequency maps: non-axially-symmetric beams, sample integration, sorption cooler noise,...

Lensed CMB temperature and polarization maps from the Millennium Simulation

We have constructed the first all-sky CMB temperature and polarization lensed maps based on a high-resolution cosmological N -body simulation, the Millennium Simulation (MS). We have exploited the lensing potential map obtained using a map-making procedure (Carbone et al. 2008) which integrates along the line-of-sight the MS dark matter distribution by stacking and randomizing the simulation bo...

Destriping of Polarized Data in a CMB Mission with a Circular Scanning Strategy

A major problem in Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) anisotropy mapping, especially in a totalpower mode, is the presence of low-frequency noise in the data streams. If unproperly processed, such low-frequency noise leads to striping in the maps. To deal with this problem, solutions have already been found for mapping the CMB temperature fluctuations but no solution has yet been proposed for th...

Measuring Statistical Isotropy of CMB Anisotropy

The statistical expectation values of the temperature fluctuations and polarization of cosmic microwave background (CMB) are assumed to be preserved under rotations of the sky. We investigate the statistical isotropy (SI) of the CMB maps recently measured by the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP) using the bipolar spherical harmonic formalism proposed in Hajian & Souradeep 2003 for CMB...

Cross-correlation studies with CMB polarization maps

The free-electron population during the reionized epoch rescatters the cosmic microwave background ~CMB! temperature quadrupole and generates a now well-known polarization signal at large angular scales. While this contribution has been detected in the temperature-polarization cross power spectrum measured with Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe data, due to the large cosmic variance associat...
